What is VEX IQ?

Any person with the slightest interest in engineering and robotics will have probably heard of Arduino, and Raspberry Pi, right? But children can’t just jump in blindly into it, because they won’t know the basics of robotics itself, forget more complex ideas like that! VEX IQ is a way to introduce robotics to the younger audience, using motors and gears and beams to create a complete robot to perform certain tasks. Every year, a new game is released to the public, which you can work in a team to then build a robot for and take to competitions to compete against other teams to get the highest score and win! It’s extremely simple, yet explores many principles and ideas that will build a foundation of robotics in your mind that any book can never!

What am I going to do here?

As someone who participates in this robotics program, I remember the initial struggle for finding anything out, spending hours on end researching forums, websites, videos for the slightest help. SPOILER: I rarely found any. This meant that my team and I had to spend extremely long hours for the mechanisms that seem ‘simple’ to to others, yet left us grasping for the knowledge to build it. This needs to change. If we want more people to start VEX, more to enjoy and stay in it, we need to teach them, not just basic things, but more advanced ones too! And that’s where I come in. I will create a complete guide for VEX IQ, covering things to the max of my ability, and then some. If you need knowledge, remember this website, because its sure to help you out.
